S.W.A.G. LIVE ART FEATURE:

"*Rell Stylez, a modern-day Renaissance Man, has his hands in activism, art, hip hop, education, and entrepreneurship. For the The AfroFuturist Affair, however, he will be exclusively using his paintbrush to draw energy from the crowd, creating live, on-scene Master pieces."

Please join us on October 28, 2011 as we celebrate and bring awareness to AfroFuturistic culture with feature ar......tists, authors, and performers present works and creations that connect back to AfroFuturism and Black Science-Fiction. We also invite you to dress the part of the Afro-Futurist by wearing a costume that reflects the AfroFuturism aesthetic. You can also have custom-made costumes created by feyasterling inc. (feyasterling@gmail.com)

AfroFuturism is a literary, artistic and cultural aesthetic that considers Blackness as it looks and is defined in the future, examines science fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, and magic as it critiques the present-day situations of people of color, explores the implications of technology on Black art and literature, and interrogates historical events involving Blacks across the diaspora. Popular artists, musicians, theorists, and writers who can be linked to AfroFuturism include: Sun Ra, Saul Williams, Toni Morrison, Erykah Badu, Nalo Hopkinson, Outkast, Octavia Butler, Janelle Monae, Amiri Baraka, Wu Tang Clan, Jean-Michel Basquiat, George Clinton, Samuel Delaney, and many, many more.
